tidbits

This week has been slightly crazy with a lot of little things going on at the same time within this week.

One of the big events has been our Pepsico Dream Machine going live. We thank KKCO News 11 (NBC) and KJCT News 8 (ABC) for covering our inaugural launch the first half of this week. We look forward to the word getting out about this free service to our community. We are the second location in the state of Colorado and the only Dream Machine on the Western Slope. I have been amazed by the number of businesses that have signed up to offer discounts and specials as part of the rewards program with Greenopolis/Dream Machine. Now people can come in recycle their Pet 1 plastic and aluminum cans and earn reward points and discounts not only at OES but other area retailers as well. Going Green has never been easier or more rewarding.

Other news from around the skating world has been with our friends over at Skate Contract who have launched Skate Contract as a free service. Now they can reach both amateur and professional skaters of any level which is really cool. I hope more and more skaters take advantage of this opportunity.

On Wednesday we were in shock to find out that 2011 US Men’s National Champion Ryan Bradley has decided to retire from competitive amateur skating. I for one was hoping to see him in Sochi but I can certainly understand his decision. Whether as a professional he chooses to do skating tours or teach we wish him the best and know he will excel in what ever he does in this next chapter of his skating career.

We are still plugging away with our
Marketing Partners program. We do feel that we have put together a program that is the first of it’s kind in the skating industry. A program that benefits not only our advertising businesses but one that benefits local skaters as well. We want local hockey players and local collegiate players to have the opportunity to use our facility for practices. With the help of our local advertisers we can bring skating back to the western slope. This will provide skaters from the western slope to be much stronger skaters in the long run then skaters that just train on real ice alone. Having a local rink to practice on will also cut down on driving 2+ hrs each way to get to practice ice.

We also want to thank our newest Marketing Partners program addition
Platinum Sign Company of Grand Junction. Their support of Skate Green is greatly appreciated. We hope that locals will help us in returning their support by supporting this great company. Look for their info soon on the Marketing Partners page.

Skate Contract is Full of Surprises

If you haven’t had a chance to follow @SkateContract on Twitter or “Like” them on Facebook you’re really missing out. These guys are always full of surprises and they never disappoint. If you follow them on those two networks then you always get a heads up on new news.

Yesterday they mixed it up again. Just when you think they can’t make it any better they do it again and again in new ways. News from Skate Contract broke yesterday that they have gone to a new free service model. So now skaters can join free no matter if you’re a pro skater or amateur. I don’t know if this is a trial run or something that’s going to be permanent but if you haven’t joined yet I would do so now for sure. There is no good reason why skaters shouldn’t be flocking over to “Skatings Social Network”. Their website can be found on our links page or
