The search continues

The search continues. Yesterday we looked at a piece of property that I really fell in love with. It’s not associated with a gym so the training center aspect of things fall short. It is however in the Palisade/Clifton side of town which is in the general area we want to be in. The space includes an office, a large area for a skate shop and then of course the area for the rink itself. The rink space will be more then enough room for our first growth spurt going from a 15x15ft surface to 27x30ft surface plus a little more.

All in all the space offers more then 2,000sqft. It has space within the rink space to offer an off ice room that looks down onto the rink space. This would allow parents an area that they could use our wireless internet to work as skaters skate in a fun safe environment.

We were hoping to get things worked out with the local gym we were working with over the past couple weeks. We were hoping to offer a training center for both hockey and figure skaters. One of the other tenants for the space did not welcome what we were trying to do. When we were asked about noise and smell pollution we knew things were starting to go south.

Hockey players to know ones surprise smell. It’s a basic fact. Kids work hard and they sweat in their pads. That is just part of hockey. We would also be limited as to our radio usage for both public sessions and figure skating freestyle sessions. I can not and will not limit these sessions. We want to create a fun & safe environment for skaters. Our “gut feeling” is that if we go into the gym we would be constantly butting heads with this tenant and putting the gym owners at a severe disadvantage and that’s not what we want. Another aspect is that the gym space is twice the expense for half the space. We have not made our final decision yet but these are a few things we are thinking and considering. We hope to have more news later this week.
