Busy week ahead of us
We have a crazy week ahead of us here at OES. This coming week is the kick of to our Spring II Learn to Skate Semester. Classes will be offered Tuesday and Thursday Evenings at 6 & 7pm and on Saturday mornings at 10 & 11am. More information can also be found on the skating academy page. Skaters can sign up online or at the rink. If you are waiting to the last minute to sign up the day of class please arrive at the rink 15-20 minutes early. Parents don’t forget there will be a short parents meeting during the practice time to answer questions and tell you about our program.
We are also just a few short days to our kick off of “Think Green”. We have some great things planned so stay tuned for all of the details coming out later next week. The countdown has begun. This will be a ground breaking announcement and a first for Western Colorado and the Skating Industry. We can’t wait!
Skate Contract
It seems as in this day and age a lot of businesses are reinventing themselves. Businesses that are local, regional, and national find themselves reinventing themselves. Some do it to stay ahead of the "curve" while others do it to boost sales and customer bases. Then there is the third reason...... to fill a much needed need. To do something that hasn't been done before. We our selves have done the same thing over the last year. We originally come out of the gate as a sport specific retailer specifically for figure skaters. While yet that is still a large part of our business model we have also branched out into the synthetic ice rink market opening our own rink with the environment in mind with #SkateGreen.
Our friends and partners over at SkateContract (www.skatecontract.com) have done the same. They have reinvented themselves not to stay in front of the curve, to increase sales or customer base but they have reinvented themselves for the same reason we did. To fit a need that wasn't being met. To think outside the box
While professional skating is still one of their foundation cornerstones they have also seen the need for amateur skaters as well. They have sought to bring both families of skating together in one place and be "Figure Skating's Social Network". A place where both the amateur and professional ranks coexist together as one.
